About

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a creative, I see myself producing art that will encourage, educate, and entertain children far and wide. So, inspired by the imaginative and playful art styles of contemporary children’s book illustrations, I set off into the world of visual storytelling for children. I like to mess around with digital quality and color, often adding a textural element of “fuzziness” to my work. Choosing to use shape, not line to create soft, plush forms helps me better grasp the feel of say, baby goats riding hot air balloons. In addition to my current work, I’m venturing into digital collage, and even traditional mediums like gouache and watercolor to broaden my horizons.

Utilizing a love for narrative storytelling and understanding the scope of children’s illustrations, I firmly believe that this is what I’m meant to be doing. Children need to see the world through unique lenses, and making sure those lenses are accessible to them is something I do well. Children’s books have inspired me to be my most authentic and creative self, so I hope my art can do the same for the next generation.
